The Bears kick off with our annual bootcamp

March 25, 2023

Last Saturday the Bears headed down to Mornington early for the annual Kew Football Club Bootcamp. Organised and run by our Men’s Head Coach Ian Aiken, alongside a brilliant support team, the men’s and women’s players were divided into groups for the day.

The day consisted of a series of events that put them to the test, including:

  • A 250m pier to beach swim
  • Wading races
  • A relay hill/steps circuit
  • The Loop track at Marine Beach
  • A cliff race at Lovers Hill
  • A timed run up Pittman Hill.

Encouraging teamwork and camaraderie, these bootcamps are never easy, and the Bears that attended were challenged mentally and physically throughout the day.

With the sun shining, and the 65 attendees clocking up 22km in total over the day, it was a great success! The playing group worked together to get each other through and were determined to succeed to the very last event.

We can’t wait to get into the 2023 season with the same level of determination. And with practice matches for both our men’s and women’s squads on Sunday 26 March at Latrobe University in Bundoora it won’t be long until we hit the ground running.
